Events for Students

Our events take students out of their classrooms and into career specific arenas where they learn about a wide variety of occupations and related skills from professionals working in a particular career cluster.  Each of our student events feature hands-on workshops where students apply what they have learned. Our events for students include:

  • Hot Jobs 4U - A career exploratory and workshop designed to introduce high school students to emerging and in-demand jobs in six career clusters.  Held each October at Western New England University, this lively and informative event provides nearly 200 students with the tools to build their career path.
  • Construction Career Day - Held in May at the New England Laborers' Training Center in Hopkinton, MA, this event is a great opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to learn about the wide variety of career paths within the construction industry — from heavy equipment operation to engineering and computer design challenges.
  • Business & Education Partnership Breakfast - Our annual celebration where we thank everyone for their support and recognize an outstanding Work-Based Learning student and mentor from each member school district. Held the 2nd Thursday in May at the Ludlow Country Club, this event is attended by nearly 100 school  administrators, educators, employers, mentors and students.

Events for Fundraising

River East School-to-Career is supported through the generous support of our business community, school district membership dues and state funding. In addition to these funding sources, we hold various fundraising events through out the year to enhance our sustainability for the future. Our fundraising events include:

  • Inspirations Fashion Party - An entertaining evening of fashion and fun, held early spring each year.  Students and faculty from member schools become runway celebraties and model styles for work to weekend. Area vendors selling fashion related merchandise offer a shopping extravaganza after the show.
  • RADA Cutlery - This ongoing fundraiser features made in the USA amazing kitchen knives, utensils, prepared foods, candles and more, and 40% of every sale goes to River East School-to-Career.
